Our first excursion didn’t bring us to New York but to Detroit to look at the marvelous contemporary ruins and what grows from it. Starting point of this journey was a road trip from Torronto to Detroit around the Ontario Lake. In Toronto we got together with the local Pornographer Bruce LaBruce. They journey continued observing the natural/artificial Art in public space work Niagara falls, then visiting the collection of the Albright Knox Museum having a tour by the senior curator Cathleen Chaffee, honoring the memory of Buffalo Artist Tony Conrad who recently passed away. In Detroit we visited the studio of local artist Kylie Lockwood and the Heidelberg project museums, galleries and got lost in the ruins. This led us to the next “ruin-trip” in Europe, Charleroi.
