The elected representative for disabled people takes care of the concerns of the disabled employees of the art university in the following matters:
- Monitoring of compliance with labor law regulations for beneficiaries of the handicapped (according to §22a Para. 8 BEinstG)
- General or individual advice before and during start of a new position
- Supporting university members’ integration in academic/professional life
- Individual technical and personal assistance (office with lift access, computer widescreen, organising an accompanying person)
- Collaboration with all university boards (rectorate, senate, university council) to guarantee the inclusion of affected people’s concerns
- Regular exchange of experiences with other disabilities representatives
- Co-determination and suggestions for structural changes such as e.g. wheelchair ramps, stair lift and reading places for the visually impaired
- notify the works council, the company owner and, if necessary, the labor inspectorate of any deficiencies noticed and work towards eliminating the deficiencies
- To make suggestions on questions of employment and the training and further education of professional and medical rehabilitation measures and to point out the special needs of disabled employees
Students are looked after by the ÖH's Intersectional Empowerment Department.
