The master programme Sculptural Conceptions / Ceramics comprises 120 ECTS (4 semesters at 30 ECTS each). 60 ECTS are acquired in the course of the artistic project work of the Master Modules. Technical skills are gained in the context of the project work of the Labs. Additionally, Labs offer workshops with artists or help students develop exhibitions in the course of smaller projects. 15 ECTS are reserved for individual prioritisation in the field of cultural studies and preparation for the entry into independent artistic activities. Another 15 ECTS can be completed as Free Electives at all departments of the University of Art and Design Linz or at another recognised domestic or foreign university.
Three Master Modules see students independently developing artistic or artistic-scientific projects which are then made accessible to an interested audience in the context of exhibitions and presentations. The programme encourages collaboration with galleries, museums and artist-run spaces so the students already get acquainted with the mechanisms of exhibition operations during their studies and develop individual strategies for their ensuing artistic practice.
Master project and master examination
The programme is completed by the artistic master project (30 ECTS). Students choose the project topic in consultation with the supervisor. They must prepare written documentation reflecting and contextualising the practical project. The master examination takes place in the form of a public presentation in front of an examination board and relates to the subject of the master project.
