Academic year summer-term 2024

Online registration from 20 March to 13 June 2024
Submission of portfolio by 13 June 2024
Entrance examination: 03 and 04 July 2024, from 10.00 am

Admission interviews take place in person, but can also be held online via video conference (Webex) for international students on request. In this case, please send a binding notification to: gerlinde.schmierer@kunstuni-linz.at.

A few days before the admission interview, we will send you the exact time for your personal interview with the admission committee via e-mail. 

Information for applicants from abroad:
The admission interview can also be conducted in English.

Application requirements 
Admission to the Master degree programme “Time-based Media” requires a completed bachelor degree programme in a study area with interdisciplinary focuses, e.g. time-based and interactive media, time-based art or media design/audiovisual design, film, video, sound, communication design, or a comparable degree programme completed at a university or university of applied sciences.


Admission
In an admission interview with the Selection Committee, applicants are expected to demonstrate their particular aptitude for the Master degree programme. They present own works with a reference to the academic profile of the programme and explain their personal motivation for applying and the goals they have set themselves for the Master degree programme.


Examination process
1. Online registration
Interested parties can apply online for an admission interview during the respective registration period (see Admission & Registration / Entrance examination) at www.zulassung.ufg.at.

2. Portfolio / letter of motivation
Please upload your portfolio and a short letter of motivation to the online platform before expiry of the respective submission period (see above).

3. Admission interview
One week before the admission interview, we will communicate the exact date of your personal interview with the Selection Committee by e-mail. Since the duration of the interview is limited to roughly 30 minutes, we would like to ask you to prepare a ten-minute presentation of selected work samples from your portfolio.

Information for foreign applicants
The admission interview can also be conducted in the English language. 

4. Examination result
The examination result can be accessed with your e-mail address and the PIN assigned upon registration a few days after the admission interview.


Additional information
Most classes are taught in the German language. For this reason, it is necessary for you to be able to follow the classes in German. Proof of proficiency in the German language is to be submitted before the beginning of the third semester at the latest (Level B1).
