Coop-Lab des OÖ Kulturquartiers und der Kunstuniversität Linz
Die kulturtankstelle ist ein Coop-Lab für künstlerisch-wissenschaftliche Forschung, Produktion und Präsentation des OÖ Kulturquartiers und der Kunstuniversität Linz, in der ehemaligen Tankstelle im Erdgeschoss des City Parkhauses in Linz. Am ungewöhnlichen Ort an der stark befahrenen Dametzstraße gelegen, fungiert das Lab als Schnittstelle der beiden Institutionen und öffnet sich für kooperative lokale, nationale und internationale Projekte. Ein Zusammenwirken von Praxis und Theorie, sowie von Kunst und Wissenschaft ist ein zentrales Anliegen – die Kulturtankstelle widmet sich Fragestellungen öffentlichen Interesses rund um das Thema “Raum”. Soziale, kulturelle, ökonomische, sowie politische Aspekte der Raumproduktion werden kritisch, künstlerisch und wissenschaftlich diskutiert und bearbeitet. Der Mix an Räumen, mit der Laborsituation im Shop, den ‚rough spaces’ der Werkstätte und der Waschstraße sowie der Freiraum im Vorbereich ermöglichen ein Miteinander und Nebeneinander unterschiedlichster Formate: Performances, Symposien, Konzerte, Screenings, Ausstellungen, Podiumsdiskussionen, Filmpräsentationen, Vorträge, Summerschools, etc. The kulturtankstelle (cultural filling station) is a Coop-Lab for artistic-scientific research, production and presentation. It is hosted by the University of Art and Design Linz and the Upper Austrian Cultural Quarter, and located at a former gas station on the ground floor of the Cityparking car park in Linz. Situated next to the busy Dametzstraße, the lab constitutes an interface between the two institutions, but is open to cooperative projects among local, national and international actors.The key concern of the kulturtankstelle is space and its production, and attached issues of public interest. These issues are addressed theoretically and practically, as well as through artistic and scientific involvement. Social, cultural, economic and political aspects of spatial production are critically analysed and discussed.
The lab situation in the shop, the "rough spaces" of the workshop and the former car wash, as well as the open space in front of the shop, along the street, provide a vital mix of spaces.
