VORTRAG

Creating and Documenting Immersive Artistic Experiences in Hybrid Environments

20. Juni 2024, 17.00 Uhr Kunstuniversität Linz, Domgasse 1, 4. OG, Interface Cultures Lab

Interface Cultures lädt zum Gastvortrag von Mónica Mendes.

This lecture explores the challenges associated with the research of enhanced artistic experiences in extended realities that combine natural and artificial worlds. Within such context, the concept of the “Nomadic Fragment" is proposed and analyzed as an operative framework for artistic research training methodologies. The discussion will be accompanied by case studies of spatial augmented reality artworks presented at the XR Festival, part of the CAPHE project (Communities and Artistic Participation in Hybrid Environments). Additionally, 360 video documentation will be demonstrated to foster further reflection on immersion and engagement across virtuality-reality continuum dimensions.

Mónica Mendes is a media artist and a Multimedia Art professor at the University of Lisbon, Faculty of Fine Arts. She is also a researcher at ITI/LARSYS and CIEBA, and the artistic director of ARTiVIS. Focused on creating artistic hybrid experiences and fostering community engagement to promote a more sustainable world, Mónica's research explores interactive systems at the intersection of art, science, and technology.
