Video projection (loop, 25 min 49 sec) and rugs
The artwork starts from my own experience and personal perception of the city as a women living in it. It addresses the problem related to personal space in public spaces and the impossibility to create boundaries and safety in them. The artwork creates little space bubbles in which everyone can feel free to find their comfort and at the same time being connected with the city scape around them. The rug is able to create a subtle division without the need of raising a wall. “r(o)ug(h)” does not seek to solve the problem but to bring it to the surface so as to question it and create a space of reflection and conversation, for an issue that women (and not only) encounter in their everyday life.
Die Arbeit gründet auf meinen eigenen Erfahrungen und meiner persönlichen Wahrnehmung der Stadt als Frau, die in ihr lebt. Es befasst sich mit dem Problem des persönlichen Raums im öffentlichen Raum und der Unmöglichkeit, dort Grenzen und Sicherheit zu schaffen. Die Arbeit erschafft kleine Raumblasen, in denen sich jeder frei fühlen kann, um sich wohl zu fühlen und gleichzeitig mit dem Stadtbild um ihn herum verbunden zu sein. Der Teppich ist in der Lage, eine subtile Trennung zu schaffen, ohne dass eine Mauer errichtet werden muss. "r(o)ug(h)" versucht nicht, das Problem zu lösen, sondern es an die Tageslicht zu bringen, um es zu hinterfragen und einen Raum der Reflexion und des Gesprächs zu schaffen, für ein Thema, das Frauen (und nicht nur sie) in ihrem Alltag begegnen.

Die Arbeit “r(o)ug(h): personal space inside public places” war Teil der Ausstellung „Frauen Bauen Stadt“ von 8. Februar bis 22. März 2024 im afo-OÖ Linz.
