The lectures on "fashion as cultural interventions" portrays the political interventions of two differently positioned fashion labels.
Urban pricvcy from Leipzig makes fashion that outwits and irritates surveillance technology. Fashion strategies make surveillance and the collection of data more difficult.
On another level, the Mexican fashion label NI EN MORE intervenes. Located in Cd. Juárez, the city known worldwide for one of the highest rates of femicides globally, the brand supports women in the city. The work in the maquiladoras (sweatshops) is dangerous for the women for multiple reasons and is partly responsible for the high femicide rate. The label offers alternative jobs and beyond.
The format provides a platform to discuss and see fashion through the lens of activism.
