Karin Harrasser This research aims to address the everyday experience of space in environments that has been subjected to enormous economic, environmental and social pressures, such as those where open-pit mining and the so-called "megaprojects" of infrastructure are carried out in Colombia.

The realization of such projects, which responds to processes of a globalized and extraction-based economy, has been linked in Colombia in many cases to phenomena of territorial dispossession of communities across the country, who end up being marginalized and socially and spatially subordinated. The above mentioned has come to reproduce forms of colonial domination, has also led to the emergence of new subjectivities through the production of space (Oren Yiftachel, 2009), by this I mean subjectivities produced by the practices of new citizenships that aim to create autonomous spaces of development and identity relaying for instance in processes of resistance in their territories and memory-building.

Some interpretations of the theory of subaltern urbanism suggest that in the construction of these subjectivities underlies an epistemological potential that could make visible the ‘spaces at the edge of urban theory’ (Roy, 2011) and even at the edge of urban or space making praxis .

The narration in this research, especially that one linked to oral culture, will be used as a tool for attempting to produce knowledge of this new subjectivities of space, in which the micro-scales (micro-histories) and the narratives of everyday experience of space are privileged as a place of diversity and as part of an epistemological and decolonizing praxis (Rivera Cusicanqui, 2015). Architect and Mag. in Habitat of the National University of Colombia. Since 2017 I have been a doctoral student at the Kunstuniversität Linz (Austria), where I am working on my doctoral project entitled "Subaltern Narratives". Subjective knowledge of space through storytelling'.
My research work has been mainly directed to the study of urban areas altered by mining, and to the study of territorial management strategies born in scenarios of participation and collective action.
I have worked professionally in the public sector in Colombia in the design of educational infrastructure and infrastructure for environmental protection areas. Email-Adresse / Email-Address:
