Maša Jazbec, Gastprofessorin bei Interface Cultures, eröffnet ihre permanente Medienskulptur "Monolith" im Zentrum von Trbovlje.
Für diese Arbet erhielt sie die Auszeichnung "The Zasavje Region Personality of 2018”.
The centre of the Trbovlje city (Slovenia) has received a completely new look in recent weeks. In addition to six cultural points, the central cultural acquisition of Monolith, designed by the local, Maša Jazbec, who had been awarded the title of “The Zasavje Region Personality of 2018” (Zasavka leta 2018), showing hologram morphing images of the Trbovlje women and men. In the evening of 20th June, the renovated space was opened and handed over to the public.
At the opening, the gathered were addressed by the Mayor Jasna Gabrič, while the honorary speaker of the evening was Minister of Culture Zoran Poznič. The Monolith’s author Maša Jazbec, and the project coordinator Jurij Crnkovič, told the audience about the implementation of the entire project. "It is not just about a space that we have visually renewed," the municipality explains, "it is a contemporary, cultural, high-tech and modern tourist oasis of the downtown that will represent the meeting point of the rich cultural heritage, positive present and promising future of the town."
The Monolith project was conceived in 2013 as the master's thesis by Maša Jazbec at the Interface Culture of the University of Art and Design Linz.
