We are living a difficult historical moment for art. Budgets for culture are being cut all over the globe, which brings lots of worries to young artists. We artists are struggling to find a way to turn our ideas into reality and have profit out of it. In this lecture Mr. O'Nascimento will talk about his experience as an artist and entrepreneur and discuss issues like: Should we artists count on government grants? is there space for artists inside companies? what are the possibilities for artists to finance their projects?
Biography
Ricardo O'Nascimento was born in São Paulo, Brazil and nowadays lives and works in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He is an artist and researcher on the field of new media and interactive art. He investigates the relation between body and environment focusing on the development of interactive installations and worn devices. His pieces have been published and broadcasted in books, tv shows, magazines, blogs and exhibited worldwide. Ricardo O'Nascimento founded Popkalab in Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), which is a platform to develop and present creations on design and interactive media.
