In diesem Rahmen werden Filme von Viktoria Schmid gezeigt.
This program gathers a selection of short films that foreground the element of the frame, with each work playing, in different ways, with ideas of framing emptiness.
In Peter Kennedy & Mike Parr’s FLUXFILM NO. 36, an otherwise empty image is articulated by the feet of a man walking around the edges of the film frame.
For his film, FRAME, Richard Serra explores the connections and disjunctions between real space and the space of the framed image.
In Hollis Frampton’s SPECIAL EFFECTS, a black void is differentiated only by a dotted white line that creates a frame within the frame, while in Paul Sharits’s double-projector piece, TIRGU JIU, a similar effect of nested frames is created by projecting one image within a larger one.
And for her PROPOSALS TO PROJECT series, artist Viktoria Schmid constructs movie screens that are installed within isolated landscapes, with the “projected image” generated by the changing light and shadows that are cast by the environment onto this (literal) blank canvas.
