The ‘end’, in the form of various menacing or ongoing disasters, is becoming a forceful part of our reality. The prevalent modality of our responding to the real of different crises is neither their proper acknowledgment nor simply their denial, but rather what psychoanalysis has conceptualized under the term of disavowal, Verleugnung. Disavowal is not simply about denying or ignoring a threat, but about robbing it of its reality, while being fully aware of it. We are in a perverse situation where our knowledge about something becomes a perfect alibi for ignoring it, and where we are more afraid of being scared to death than of actually dying.

>>„Bioplasticity“ and „Design for Diversity“

In this talk we will explore the concept of Design for Diversity, a philosophy for design thinking that is founded on the scientific principle of bioplasticity. The concept derived from latest scientific understanding in the fields of evolutionary biology, epigenetics, and neuroscientific understanding about the plasticity that is inherent to living biology. Bioplasticity tells us to expect diversity in all directions, in all shapes and forms; it tells us to acknowledge and embrace the reality of diversity, to see diversity as the norm and not as exceptions. Therefore, the philosophy of Design for Diversity that is founded on the principle of bioplasticity, tells us to anticipate and incorporate, from the inception of the design process, diversity of needs of diverse living beings that inhabit the planet. Thus, Design for Diversity, is a model of design thinking that not only has much stronger and wider motivation as social imperatives for inclusion. 22. November 2022 (Keplersalon)
>>Ästhetik des Sexuellen, oder: Zur Kondomhaftigkeit von Sexualität

Er bringt ein Kondom ins Spiel, sie bläst es, ihn verlachend, auf wie einen Ballon. Diese Sequenz aus Looking for Mr. Goodbar (USA 1977) wird im Film Test (USA 2013) zitiert, der im schwulen San Francisco-Modern-Dance-Milieu der 1980er Jahre spielt. Ausgehend von der Machart solcher Szenen und über den konkreten Gebrauch der Überzieher hinaus befasst sich dieser Vortrag mit Zwischenschichten und Screens, dem Aufführungscharakter von Sexualität bzw. der Art ihrer ästhetischen Verfasstheit.

>>Die Ökologisierung der Gesellschaft

Das Bewusstsein für die Naturzerstörung ist so alt wie die Industrialisierung, die dafür verantwortlich gemacht wird. Dennoch hat es über hundert Jahre gedauert, bis sich das ökologische Paradigma durchgesetzt hat. Jede politische Ordnung setzt die Existenz einer Natur voraus, die sie nicht beeinflussen kann. Im Zeitalter der Ökologie ist es die sterbende Natur, die unsere Gesellschaft bestimmt. Wollen die Menschen überleben, müssen sie sich um ihre Lebensgrundlagen kümmern und zahllose natürliche Faktoren zum Gegenstand von Politik machen. Die politischen Koordinatensysteme der Gegenwart bleiben davon nicht unberührt. Die Natur zu regieren, bedeutet heute auch, von ihr regiert zu werden.
