Admission to the Master degree programme “Time-based Media” requires a completed bachelor degree programme in a study area with interdisciplinary focuses, e.g. time-based and interactive media, time-based art or media design/audiovisual design, film, video, sound, communication design, or a comparable degree programme completed at a university or university of applied sciences.
In an admission interview with the Selection Committee, applicants are expected to demonstrate their particular aptitude for the Master degree programme. They present own works with a reference to the academic profile of the programme and explain their personal motivation for applying and the goals they have set themselves for the Master degree programme.
Interested parties can apply online for an admission interview during the respective registration period (see Admission & Registration / Entrance examination) at www.zulassung.ufg.at.
Please upload your portfolio and a short letter of motivation to the online platform before expiry of the respective submission period (see above).
One week before the admission interview, we will communicate the exact date of your personal interview with the Selection Committee by e-mail. Since the duration of the interview is limited to roughly 30 minutes, we would like to ask you to prepare a ten-minute presentation of selected work samples from your portfolio.
Information for foreign applicants
The admission interview can also be conducted in the English language.
The examination result can be accessed with your e-mail address and the PIN assigned upon registration a few days after the admission interview.
Most classes are taught in the German language. For this reason, it is necessary for you to be able to follow the classes in German. Proof of proficiency in the German language is to be submitted before the beginning of the third semester at the latest (Level B2/ with minimum score 75).
The teaching focus is on a broad, media-oriented practice of research, development and design; in addition to well-known, established techniques, media types and formats (photography, film/video, sound, time-based art, media/Internet art, games, etc.), knowledge is in particular imparted with a view to innovative digital and interactive
