As part of the PhD programme, the University of Arts Linz maintains bilateral partnerships with the Basel University of Art and Design FHNW and the Zurich University of the Arts ZHdK. For PhD candidates within the framework of these partnerships, supervision during the entire PhD phase takes place at both universities, while the doctorate takes place at the University of Arts Linz. These partnerships offer participating PhD candidates a broader academic landscape, access to different research cultures and thus the opportunity to expand their international network as well as the chance to engage with additional perspectives and methods.
PhD candidates in the Interface Cultures programme also have the opportunity to apply to the University of Tsukuba. For further information, please contact Interface Cultures directly.
In 2023, the LABORATORIO LAGUNA research project has been launched, in which PhD candidates from the four participating institutions University of Arts Linz, ZHdK, Berlin University of the Arts and Uniarts Helsinki work, research and live together for three weeks in Venice every year.
Within the framework of Erasmus+, PhD candidates can apply for long-term mobilities (1 semester with the option of extension, depending on budget availability) at renowned institutions within and outside Europe. A list of Erasmus partner universities of the University of Arts Linz can be found here. The International Office will provide you with competent advice and support in all questions and processes relating to Erasmus+.
