Here you find a summary of all the necessary information and forms you will need for your upcoming graduation. You can also find a detailed information sheet in the download section.
All necessary certificates / assessments must be available for the Bachelor's degree, i.e. all necessary credits must be completed. You can have this checked by the Student’s Office.
We recommend checking the modalities for your graduation with your respective department. Upon completion, your graduation needs to be communicated to the Student’s Office. Framework dates and deadlines for the current academic year can be found in the download section.
If a final presentation is compulsory for your study programme, you need to book a room for the presentation and set the examination date (within the framework date) in consultation with your examination board. This date has to be announced to the Student’s Office. Framework dates and deadlines for the current academic year can be found in the download section.
The process of completing the diploma programme in Fine Arts or the MA programmes at the University of Art and Design Linz starts approx. 6 months before the intended examination date with the registration of your diploma thesis title or MA thesis title - i.e. with the written announcement of the topic of your thesis in the Student’s Office. If several people are involved in a final project/thesis, the respective parts must be clearly marked.
All examinations must be completed, i.e. certificates and assessments and any necessary credits must be entered in ufgonline, no later than three weeks before the intended examination date. You can check this yourself by clicking on “My Studies”. The Student’s Office will also be happy to help you with this.
The written thesis must be submitted by the specified deadline. The digital MA theses (PDF) for media culture and art theories as well as for the teacher training degree must be uploaded for a plagiarism check at calls.kunstuni-linz.at/calls/EA22/. THE PDF HAS TO CORRESPOND EXACTLY TO THE PRINTED VERSION! Subsequently, the work must be submitted in bound form within 48 hours in accordance with the regulations of the library to the Student’s Office or sent by post to the Student’s Office, Hauptplatz 6, 4020 Linz (date of the postmark applies).
The written part of the artistic diploma thesis must be submitted to your department at least three weeks before the examination date. Diploma theses and MA theses have to be published - information on this can be found here.
By the time you hand in the form for your graduation (at least 4 weeks before the actual examination date), you need to specify the location of your examination (can also be an external location for artistic theses), the examination board and the exact date and time. This information must be submitted to Student’s Office by the specified deadline.
After successfully completing your BA programme, or diploma or MA examination, you can register for participation in the academic ceremony / graduation (If the publication obligation has not been fulfilled by the graduation date, you will not be able to attend the ceremony).
There is more detailed information on completing the teaching training programme (BA and MA), which you can find in the download section. You will also find a detailed handout on completing the PhD programme in the download section.
In order to obtain your graduation documents from the Student’s Office, it is necessary to obtain some signatures. To do this, please use the Laufzettel. As soon as you have completed the “Laufzettel”, you can collect your graduation documents (bring along the “Laufzettel”). The required signatures and confirmations can also be obtained and transmitted electronically. Graduates are required to fill in a statistical survey called UHStat2. Thus, please click on the link embedded in the “Laufzettel” form and complete the survey. After completion, you can download a PDF (confirmation of participation) which you also need to submit.
In case you are taking up another programme at our university (e.g. consecutive MA programme) deviant provisions apply. In this case, you only need to prove your participation in the UHStat2 survey. Depending on the programme, you will be studying at Kunstuni after graduation, you might need to have your rights of access to your old department deleted (obsolete if you take up the consecutive MA programme).
Information on the use of academic degrees can be found here.
Upon graduation, you can apply for various scholarships and prizes. Additionally, you can search for competitions and calls here.
In addition, all graduates can join the alumni association “forum” after graduation. Information about the services and work of the alumni association is available here.
