Plastic and Environment

The new professorship for Sculpture and Environment at the University of Arts Linz will focus on artistic practices that are decidedly concerned with the complex interdependencies between humans and their biological and social environments. The term environment refers both to the urgent problem area of (global) ecology with its multiple crises and to the environment as an art form. This art form draws on installation, social sculpture and participatory art techniques to make us aware of multi-layered environmental relationships and make them the subject of criticism or the basis for alternative designs.
