The questions at the heart of the Artistic Research area are: How can artistic and scientific approaches benefit from each other in the exploration of culture(s), complement each other or motivate each other to go further? How is it possible to reflect on one's own (artistic or academic) research? How is knowledge about culture(s) produced and for whom? To what extent can new approaches and spaces for thought be developed?
Above all, artistic research poses the question of the social relevance, impact, forms of organization and communication of our knowledge production. We tie in with questions of methodology, the history of science and the sociology of knowledge and open up a space for self-reflection and experimentation.
