Borrowing

One-time registration for non-university members

Before borrowing for the first time, you must register as a public user at the Library, i.e. fill out an application form at the Library and identify yourself with a valid photo ID and your current resident registration (Meldezettel). For persons under 18, the declaration of liability and consent must be signed by their parents. You will then receive then your personal Library card and are able to use all services of the Library.

Please note that you have to communicate any change of your residential or e-mail address immediately and directly to the Library.

    Choosing your items

    You can retrieve most books directly from the shelfs and browse the DVD shelves and take the empty cases to the front desk, where the actual discs are kept.

    Lending regulations

    You can take out a maximum of 25 media units on one card. For more details, please consult the library rules or see a member of the UL staff for help.

    Loan periods

    The loan period is 30 calendar days for books and 5 calendar days for AV media.

    Fines

    Borrowing is currently free of charge.There is a one time cost replacement for the library card for users that are not members of the University.However, if books or other media are returned late, an overdue fine as well as a daily charge for each book/AV medium will apply. The current rates of fines are shown in the library rules.
