Insurance cover

Erasmus staff mobilities (teaching STA or training STT) and ASEA UNINET mobilities are carried out at the University of Arts Linz as part of a business trip. Employees are insured for these business activities abroad as follows.

The University of Arts Linz is not liable for the consequences of non-insurance or underinsurance!

Insurance cover during a business trip

Health insurance:

  • For basic health insurance, the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) can be used for basic health insurance. It is noted on the back of the e-card and proves that you have statutory health insurance in Austria.
  • The EHIC is valid in all EU and EEA states as well as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Please note that not all costs are necessarily covered by the EHIC (care according to the rules of the country of residence).
  • The university supplements the cover with additional health insurance for business trips abroad. Insurance cover is provided for costs incurred during a business trip abroad in connection with acute illness, accident or death. The insurance cover for the agreed benefits extends to all countries worldwide outside Austria.

Evidence:

  • Within the EU/EEA/CH/UK, the A1 certificate (PD A1) is required for external proof of social insurance during a business trip. This is requested by the HR department and is always required when employees work temporarily in another country (secondments) or employees usually work in several countries (conflict of laws). The decision as to which legislation is applicable is sent by the competent social insurance institution in the form of the PD A1 certificate.
  • In Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro, the EHIC must be submitted to the competent local health insurance institution. The latter will issue a valid certificate of entitlement.
  • The PD A1 is not valid outside the EU/EEA/CH/UK. Depending on the destination country, other proof or forms may be required. (e.g.: Turkey: foreign care certificate)

Liability insurance

  • The liability insurance of the University of Arts Linuz covers claims for damages by third parties against the university and its employees arising from activities within the scope of university operations in accordance with the insurance conditions. Recourse regulations under employment law in accordance with the Employee Liability Act remain unaffected; a judicial right of moderation exists here.

Insurance cover for leisure activities

  • Leisure activities on business trips are treated in the same way as private trips abroad: medical care is covered by the EHIC in the EU/EEA/CH/UK, but not outside the EU/EEA/CH/UK.
  • Employees are obliged to take care of their own insurance cover!
