Information on subsidies

This page is intended to provide an initial orientation on funding opportunities and support contacts. The Kunst.Forschung_Service team must be involved in every application process, from the initial idea to the finalisation of the project.

  • From start-up funding for scholarship and research applications to conference funding and print grants: Information for applications for internal funding can be found here.
The International Research Centre for Cultural Studies in Vienna regularly awards scholarships through its own call for applications: ifk Fellowships

  • The Austrian Science Fund FWF awards research grants on behalf of the federal government in all disciplines of university and non-university basic research as well as artistic-scientific research.
Information on the funding portfolio can be found here.
An overview of the project process from finding funding to the end of the project can be found here.

  • The FFG is the Austrian funding agency for market-oriented research, development and innovation, i.e. it funds application-orientated rather than basic research.
In this overview you will find all programmes and funding offers that are handled or supervised by the FFG, as well as the respective submission options (calls for proposals).
On this website, the FFG offers a low-threshold idea check to see which funding programme might be suitable for your project idea.

  • In total, there are over three dozen funding programmes at EU level.
Horizon Europe, Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships and Creative Europe are central here, without excluding the possibility of a successful application to CERV, DIGITAL, Life, Interreg and other programmes.
The FFG offers good initial guidance on its EU portal as well as a low-threshold opportunity to match project ideas with funding programmes via the idea check.
The EU Funding and Tenders Portal contains the currently open calls for the programmes processed there. Reference documents can also be found there, from work programmes to model contracts.

  • Working as an evaluator offers a special opportunity to familiarise yourself with the decision-making processes of the international evaluation panels for EU projects and to learn for your own project applications.
