Brauche dringend Geld für PS5: this description on a sales posting for a homemade painting, asking urgently for money to buy a PS5, is what triggered this project. The question is posed of what art is, and what art counts as. The catalogue comprises 150 sales postings and their descriptions with the key words “homemade” and “DIY” found on Willhaben, an online Austrian website for buying and selling. Postings that often go unnoticed are given attention and appreciation in a new context here.
Lena Kralicek focuses on simple yet effective visual design to make complex social issues accessible. For her, design is a tool to promote social and sustainable change. Her strategy is based on the conviction that creative approaches and a different perspective can provide new food for thought.
