The replacement of human labour by machine has been in debate over the past decades, and it may additionally lead to debate about the use of machines as an extension for humans in their work. Perhaps right now is the time for understanding and collaborating with machines.
In the field of interaction design for human-robot collaborative applications, while theoretically instant reactions are possible to achieve, conceptually, a narrative is required for instant, reasonable and meaningful reactions. This research proposal takes two different yet, complimentary approaches aiming to create understanding between humans and robotic arms through collaboration. First is the technical aspect; by programming custom design applications for artistic projects; exploring the possible ways of interaction and communication in real-time. Second approach is the study of narrative and designing contextual principles for the interaction; by looking at the theory of psychoanalysis and narratology in the context of interactive art.
Kurz-Biographie / Short Bio
As a new media artist with a background in fine arts and philosophy, Amir Bastan (*1991) explores the conflict between the conscious and the subconscious. He realizes his works by designing narratives through real-time processes. Amir is based in Linz/AT where he is persuing his PhD and currently a researcher at Creative Robotics department at the University for arts and design in Linz.
