Interface Cultures Windows operating system error messages are something that we are all used to. They are part of today’s most familiar computer interface and they appear when there is a loss of communication between the program and the user or a misunderstanding. With the contemporary communication technologies we are more than ever bound to the screen as a window to and through the world. Nevertheless this is not really helping us to keep our connectedness and we often fail to communicate with each other. By using the almost forgotten and old-fashioned craft of embroidery, the error messages appear in cross stitch and give a new context. As they are part of the modern aesthetics of the computer screen, the embroidering gives them the status of the new ‘beauty’ and the new ‘hype’. Sie sind Teil des heute bekanntesten PC-Interfaces und sie tauchen auf wenn die Kommunikation zwischen Programm und Benutzer / Benutzerin abbricht oder ein Missverständnis vorherrscht. Durch die modernen Kommunikations-Technologien sind wir mehr denn je an den Bildschirm als Fenster zur und durch die Welt gebunden. Dennoch hilft uns dies nicht wirklich unsere Verbindungen zu halten und wir scheitern oft im Kommunizieren miteinander. Durch die Verwendung des fast vergessenen und altmodischen Handwerks, der Stickerei, erscheinen die Fehlermeldungen in Kreuzstich und somit in einem neuen Kontext. Da sie Teil der modernen Ästhetik des Computer-Bildschirms sind, gibt ihnen das Sticken den Status des neuen "Schönheit" und des neuen "Hype".
