This work is taken from a loose series of motifs of the city of Linz, created within other projects or during spontaneous, inner-city photo trips. Crossing the Danube on the Bundesstraße 3 over the Steyregger Bridge in the direction of the city centre, one is immediately immersed in the world of industry. Sandwiched between the Linz Chemical Park and the Voestalpine steelworks, you are haunted by the smells and sounds of a highly mechanised world.   One of the most powerful and fleeting visual phenomena is the coke plant's steam column, which rises at regular intervals and can be seen from afar. When the overhead tanks release water to quench the glowing coke charges, a huge cloud of steam rises into the sky as an ephemeral landmark, only to disappear again immediately thereafter. Gregor Graf

Born 1976 in Vienna, Gregor Graf studied Metal / Space & Design Strategies at the University of Art and Design Linz from 1997 to 2004. His works are represented in numerous Austrian and international exhibition houses. Stays abroad have taken him to Chicago, Rome, Essen, Düsseldorf, Burgdorf and Bern.
