"Wherever we are, what we hear is mostly noise. When we ignore it, it disturbs us. When we listen to it, we find it fascinating." This is how John Cage programmatically begins his text "The Future of Music: Credo" (1937/1958). A habitat is usually assessed by visual means and by measuring and counting. Acoustic ecology, on the other hand, shows that more precise and useful results are often achieved when we compare what we hear. Ecology examines the relationships between living beings and between them and the inanimate world. The space for these relationships is mainly air. And all air is sound and therefore audible. The Acoustic Ecology theme week is dedicated to the sound ecology of the city. Those who listen carefully often learn more about the world than those who look closely. Fascinating.

There will be a variety of activities over seven days, always at 5.00 pm. Sometimes even before.
