Workshop Design: Tech.Tex / Arts

Our workshops are designed as a place for learning and realisation in the field of handcrafting and artistic-technical material technology. In the spectrum between teaching and professional expertise, the main wood workshop offers the perfect working environment and the possibility to realise any creative design, prototype, and artistic object.

The main woodworking area is part of the workshop formation based at the facility on Hauptplatz 6 along with the respective head offices. For all theoretical needs, a well equipped seminar room is available.

Complex woodworking techniques can be learned in seminars supported by the extensive know-how of lecturers and employees (registration required).

Equipment

The main wood workshop is equipped for the handling of solid wood and derived timber products. In addition to a basic hand tool selection, there are professional woodworking machines available such as a sliding table saw, band saw, surface planning machine, thickness planer, table milling machine, edge sander, drill press, turning lathe, gluing stand, horizontal slot mortise and sliding mitre saw (on demand).

In addition to the standard material processing instruments for wood, metal and synthetics, we also offer a wide range of computer aided manufacturing systems such as laser cutting, 3D printing and a CNC router.

Requirements for the use of the workshops
(see also workshop regulations)

Enrolment in a workshop introduction seminar at the beginning of the semester is required in order to use a workshop. A record of participation with a signature will be stored in the workshop for reference by employees, teaching staff or study assistants. There is no restriction on the number of participants.

Prerequisite for working on the machines or handheld devices is participation in instruction, which takes place in seminars of smaller groups. Registration for the course is mandatory.

Working is generally possible during the lecture period under the supervision of a workshop manager or instructed lecturer.

According to Austrian law, even a student classified as a skilled worker has no further freedom / rights with regard to the operation of machines and devices.

Commercial use is not possible for graduates and third parties.
