Paradoxes of Participation

9. November 2010, 14.00 Uhr Interface Cultures, Kollegiumgasse 2, 3.OG, 4010 Linz

Gastvortrag von Dr. Matthias Michalka vom MUMOK Wien zum Thema "Paradoxes of Participation".

Abstract
Long before the term „interactivity“ became a common catchword in the media-art discourse, artists tried to establish a dynamic relationship between the work of art and its recipients. Particularly in the context of the late 1960ies notions of participation and feedback became a central element of the artistic production. This talk will discuss the utopian aspects and the critical aspects of artistic participation since the 1960ies in relation to concrete works and theoretical references.
