Quiet Dialogue: Invisible Existences and Us

9. Juni bis 1. Juli 2018 Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum
, Japan

Ausstellungsbeteiligung & Artist Talk von und mit Katharina Gruzei

Artist Talk Katharina Gruzei: Sonntag 24. Juni 13 – 15 Uhr, Gallerie A  - Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum

This exhibition shows artworks about women, and explores various women existences or ways of living in our society with the simple question of gender gap in our everyday lives. It would be always controversial to do both housework and paid jobs for women even now, and this discussion would be not only for women but also for various individuals and communities. For us in the present day, looking at the women’s history probably tells us how our stereotypes were formed and how we can break it, because anyhow women always face to gender inequality. In this exhibition, works try to mix archives and interviews of unknown/well-known women to investigate and artists’ personal experiences. These might give audiences ideas of various ways of living with different viewpoints. A library space will also be built in the exhibition space, and audiences can read and look at references, books, objects and small art works related to artist’s researches and the topic of gender. With the library space and related events, it would be possible to share processes of art works and exchange ideas.
