Superhuman: From Well-Being to Being-Good

Carolyn M. Amann

Carolyn Amann

As a language-artistic/scientific diptych, her work is dedicated to affect-sensitive media that locate themselves in an environment with the help of sensors and react to a counterpart by generating body data and measuring states of mind based on Emotional AI. The underlying concepts of emotion and psyche are examined genealogically and, by focusing on the interface itself, affect-sensitive media are described as relational. Starting from a techno-ecology, it uses concepts of well-being to unfold a media-technological dispositive, which helps to reveal an algorithmic rationality with which we are already interwoven, down to the smallest sensation.
